Houlton Homes Q&A

To celebrate #NewHomeownersDay, we asked our online community what they wanted to know most about the Houlton development. The following questions ranked among the most popular we received…

1. Will there be schools in Houlton?

As part of our masterplan, the Houlton community will feature three new primary schools and a secondary school. Our first primary, St Gabriel’s CofE Academy is already near completion and will be ready welcome pupils in September 2018.

Furthermore, you’ll never be more than a mile away from the school gates as a Houlton resident, thanks to the specifically designed civic space, footpaths and cycleways around the village to make school runs healthy and stress-free.

2. What medical facilities will be available in Houlton?

Part of our plan for Houlton is to provide our community with easy access to the services and facilities that are essential to family living. That is why outline planning consent for Houlton features an 8 GP Health Centre to serve residents across the area.

3. What transport links are available in the area?

From Houlton you can reach 80% of the country within just 4 hours, and are in close proximity to the M1, A5, M6 and M45.

For railway riders, the West Coast Mainline will get you to London in just 50 minutes and Birmingham in 30 minutes. Rugby town centre is just four miles away and Houlton’s own bus service will take you there!

By summer 2019 there will also be a new Houlton link road, connecting residents to the heart of Rugby and creating an easy trip into town.

4. How are you planning to protect the wildlife in Houlton?

We are blessed with a luscious landscape and an abundance of native wildlife including great crested newts, curlews and owls to name a few, for which extensive ecological work has been done to preserve and maintain their natural habitat.

We have created specially landscaped wildlife corridors brimming with natural wildflowers, hedgerow and ponds with footpaths and cycleways as part of our endeavours. Our property developer, Morris Homes has also teamed up with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust to introduce Hedgehog Highways to Houlton, helping our prickly visitors pass safely through residential areas.

We believe that it is the ecology of Houlton that makes this development special, which is why we recently hosted the Really Wild Houlton Adventure in partnership with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and BBC’s Mike Dilger to educate young children on the importance of wildlife protection.

Houlton also features over 17 tree species, 3ha of wildflower grasslands, 3km of hedgerow and 15ha of bespoke wildlife habitats, not to mention a large preserved area of medieval farming land Ridge and Furrow, a protected feature of bygone farming.

5. How much are properties in Houlton?

There are a variety of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5-bedroom homes available at Houlton, starting from as little as £199,950.
