Calling Local Rugby Artists
Written by Kyle Smith
Houlton hosts panoramic views of wide-open green space and exciting new residential development. Part of the placemaking strategy for Houlton is to showcase the scenery and bring the community experience to life.
Urban&Civic (U&C) are looking for a local Rugby based artist who can recreate – using their own style and approach – an image of Houlton. The piece should be ready for promotion in March 2021, with a follow up piece from a different artist in Summer 2021. Our summer image will focus on a different element of the site. Finally, in December the project will open up for local non-professional artists to submit their own ideas - with the winning piece being filmed for social media.
U&C would like a local artist who is passionate about their community and keen to showcase the best of Houlton.
The artist should be available to complete this work in late February or early March and be ready to partner with a videographer to capture the artwork creation process. Please consider this when proposing an idea.
Please send any expressions of interest - with a link to previous work - to Houlton@urbanandcivic.com by Monday 22nd February at 9am. We have a budget to support this work and are pleased to offer The Barn as a future exhibition space for showcasing local work (once restrictions allow).
For information, here is an example of a very similar project completed at a neighboring site of Wintringham at Christmas. Artists will not be asked to film their own work, U&C have chosen a videographer already.
